Today, Governor Mike Pence issued the following statement regarding Indiana's May unemployment rate of 5.1 percent, a 0.3 percent drop from April and the second consecutive month unemployment has declined in Indiana. In addition, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation announced today they are setting a record pace for investments this year, with more than 150 companies already committed to investing more than $3 billion in Indiana and creating thousands of jobs in the coming years. These jobs are expected to pay average hourly wages of $25.29, which is a 15 percent increase from 2014 and tops both the current state average of $21.43 and the national average wage of $24.96.

"Thanks to the hard work of the people of Indiana and businesses both large and small, unemployment continues to decline in the Hoosier State. Since day one in office, our administration has been committed to strengthening Indiana's economy and implementing the kind of policies that lead to quality jobs for Hoosiers. With unemployment nearly half a percent below the national average, new job commitments and wages on the rise, and near record-level of Hoosiers working than ever before, it is clear that Indiana continues to grow stronger every day."
